Reflecting on a Day of Celebration: Buddhafield in Avalon with Lokabandhu

In the last weekend in March 2025, Buddhafield Base hosted Buddhafield in Avalon, a one-day gathering highlighting the Base project and honouring Lokabandhu.
Lokabandhu in a nutshell
Ordained into the Triratna Buddhist Order in 1990, Lokabandhu first joined Buddhafield in 1992 and co-founded the Buddhafield Festival in 1996. His journey began at the London Buddhist Centre, where he immersed himself in Buddhist teachings. Now based in Glastonbury, he continues to weave spiritual practice with community service.
As Mayor, Lokabandhu has championed unity among Glastonbury’s diverse faith groups, fostering interfaith dialogue and building bridges across all walks of life—efforts that reflect his deep commitment to mutual respect and connection. He invited Buddhafield to host an event in the town hall as part of the celebration of the end of his mayorship and in support of Glastonbury Mental Health Network. Some profits from the day were donated to this chosen charity.
A Day of Connection and Celebration
Held in the historic Glastonbury Town Hall, Buddhafield in Avalon blended spirituality and festivity. The day featured workshops, meditations, talks, yoga, live music, and DJ sets—all infused with Buddhafield’s vibrant energy. Attendees explored heart-centred teachings, deepened their practice, and connected with others, nourished by delicious vegan fare from the Buddhafield Café.

Raising Awareness for Buddhafield Base
Buddhafield Base aims to secure land and buildings to create a resource centre that will support the existing Buddhafield activites as well as expand them. We want people to be able to come and explore ways to expand and regenerate themselves, their communities and the land around them. Buddhafield in Avalon was another chance for us to share that vision and invite contributions toward a permanent home for Buddhafield. Beyond hosting Buddhafield Festival, Buddhafield Base will be somewhere we encourage people to embody values of authentic community, meaningful work, care for land and ecology, and celebration of creativity and imagination.
Buddhafield in Avalon was a testament to the power of community, connection, and spirituality. Whether a longtime Buddhafield supporter or a curious newcomer, attendees left inspired and uplifted.
